HP Tuners' Own Guidance: More Is Not Always Better
VCM Scanner distinguishes between polled, broadcast and external channels. HP Tuners notes that adding more polled parameters can slow how quickly data is returned from the vehicle, while broadcast and external inputs do not create the same polling overhead.
Start With Vehicle Defaults
HP Tuners recommends loading the vehicle-specific default channels as a starting point, then saving separate channel configurations for common tasks. That is a better workflow than one giant “everything” config.

| 6L80 | RPM, vehicle speed, commanded/actual gear, input/output speed, TCC state/slip and trans temperature where supported. |
Use The Right Display
HP Tuners provides gauges, graph/histogram panels and chart-vs-time layouts. For a shift or knock event, chart-vs-time usually makes the sequence easiest to see. For comparing repeated cells or distributions, graphs/histograms can be more useful.
